New York is a tattoo lover's dream city. We see inspiration everywhere and on everyone walking around the city, from traditional motifs to exciting artist's statements. Tattooing is a folk art with a rich and storied tradition that continues to grow over time. Did you know that the American Folk Art Museum has several pieces of tattoo art in the collection?
This sheet of Americana tattoo flash from the museum's collection were made by Milton Zeis, a tattoo artist from Rockford, Illinois. The works are not dated but judging from their designs, these would have been made in the World War II era.
