This beautifully illustrated book presents 82 of the finest watercolor renderings from the Index of American Design, a visual archive of approximately 18,000 watercolor renderings of American decorative arts objects from the colonial period through the nineteenth century. The watercolors in the Index were produced by some 1,000 artists between 1935 and 1942, and includes images of objects including: quilts, weather vanes, hand-carved toys, carousel animals, stoneware, and cigar-store figures.
