Rik began making his unique fish in the spring of 2000, the local Earth Day committee asked him to create and implement a "community art" project as part of their annual celebration. He constructed an 8' w. x 15' h. "poem board": with fabricated a four-foot-long Bull trout from tin can lids was erected in Spokane's Riverfront Park on Earth Day. He continues to make these unique pieces with upcycled materials in his studio in Spokane, Washington.
