City Folk Handmade

Pennsylvania, United States

Sandy Malamed was born in the glass making town of Corning, New York and attended the
University of Rochester receiving both B.S. and M.S. degrees. The former advance practice nurse
is a self-taught artist who has been pursuing her work in art full time beginning in 2006.
Her diverse body of work ranges from porcelain sculpture and functional wares, to
narrative fiber works, and found art assemblages.  Her work has been shown
throughout North Eastern PA, New York, Washington D.C., and Connecticut. City folk
is a name that describes my approach to life. "City" because I am a born explorer. "Folk"
because, in my mind I have created my own Fantastical world. I imagine a place out in the
country where everything is peaceful, beautiful, and made by hand. Through my artistic
endeavors I aspire to bring that place into reality.
