Cher Shaffer is a self-taught artist who has been creating art for 45 years. She grew up on a small farm in Georgia, influenced by her diverse heritage, including Cherokee and German roots. Her colorful artwork, often described as folk or outsider art, reflects her storytelling ability and depicts the lifestyles of the mountains. Cher's unique style has drawn comparisons to famous artists like Chagall and Picasso, making her work highly collectible. Her art is featured in numerous museums and private collections, including those of celebrities like Oprah Winfrey and Jane Fonda. In 1989, her work appeared in the influential book "O'Appalachia," which was showcased in a traveling exhibit across the country. Cher has spent most of her adult life in the Appalachian region.
