After sustaining a brain injury, Alyson Vega was forced to quit teaching math after 20 years but she developed an urgency to create. Unable to follow a pattern, she made assemblages with whatever she could get her hands on: fabric, yarn etc. She utilized a variety of materials and techniques reflecting the beauty and order she perceives in a chaotic world. Alyson was born in New York City in 1962. She received an AB in Japanese Folklore and Mythology in Harvard University. She taught herself to sew at a young age and is now is a Puerto Rican fiber artist.
